Blades and Special Needs Grizzlies- 1/15/11

This game was a special circumstance, playing with the special needs team. This means that instead of playing against their team, we split the teams and mixed them together so that we could assist the special needs athletes during the game.

Katie and Jonica help coach the SN Grizzlies, and set up this game with them. The Blades players were WONDERFUL about playing fair and helping the SN athletes to learn the game and have fun.

The SN Grizzlies have some advanced players that we played to the level of. The fastest person on the ice had to be the son of the SN coach. They played aggressively and had great teamwork, making sure to pass and spread out who scored the goals.

It was an exciting game and reminded the Blades about the fun to be had in playing hockey.

Blades vs. Lightning- 2/12/11

Our second game against these talented young ladies. Although the girls on the Lightning have probably been playing just as long or longer than the majority of the ladies on the Blades, we were able to claim the win. The girls on the Lightning were overall faster and had more energy, but the ladies on the Blades were stronger and had a longer reach. We won most one on one battles, and we also had more passes completed.

We are excited to see how well the girls on the Lightning do at Nationals and we wish them luck!
